When we look at other people on the streets, on the job, in cafes, business meetings, University, church, the grocery store, and even within our own families, it is easy to focus purely on the physical (the outward appearance) and make many assumptions.
Some common assumptions we make are: "They have an easier life than I do". "They are always happy and laugh a lot". "They seem so peaceful". "They have no worries". "Their worries are not as difficult as mine". "They are very confident in themselves". "They are very religious or not religious at all". "They are sad and depressing". "They are not very friendly". "They have it all together". "Because of their important job, they must be a very good leader". "They never struggle with temptations and addictions". "They must have many friends and are never lonely".
The reality is that until we sit down, talk, and listen to another person, we do not know much about them. Therefore, it is easy to make assumptions.
